BIOGRAPHY - JOAN CARROLL
I was a photo retoucher in Manhattan during my working life.
That's when we did it by hand, before Photoshop took over.
During that time, I studied with Burt Silverman, and at the Art Students League.
When my husband and I retired we moved to Pennsylvania,
and here I started painting in pastels before switching to oils.
Pennsylvania is so picturesque and rich in all kinds of art.
In 2011, I was featured in the Artist Magazine in “11 Amazing Artists Over 60”
In 2016, I was thrilled to be accepted into the Non Members Art Show at the Salmagundi Art Club,
where I won the Jack Richeson Award.
At the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club 2016 Open Exhibition, I won the Dorothy Kenney Award.
Both of those are in Manhattan.
On the advice of other artists here, I joined Facebook where I’m learning so much.
It’s so exciting to see what other artists are doing all over the world.
There’s so much to learn, and I’m happy to be an artist!
